Murder in Williamstown (Phryne Fisher Mysteries) -> Williamstown Murder

Once again, The Honourable Miss Phryne Fisher finds herself deeply embroiled in a mystery that captures her attention. Accustomed to waking unusually early one morning, Phryne seizes the opportunity to enjoy some rare free time. She drops her daughters off at the Blind Institute for their charitable work before paying a visit to a university professor she had met during a previous case.

During lunch with the professor, Phryne receives an invitation to dine at his home in Williamstown later in the week. The dinner with her new acquaintance Jeoffrey proves delightful, but it is marred by the discovery of an opium pipe in the park and the body of a Chinese man on the beach, whose death is initially shrouded in mystery, though later ruled a homicide.

Following these unsettling incidents, the teenage sister-in-law of Phryne's lover Lin Chung goes missing from her home. The mystery deepens when one of Jeoffrey's colleagues is murdered at a Chinese-themed party, leaving Phryne to ponder the connections between the various events. Meanwhile, ominous notes begin appearing in Phryne's letterbox, urging her to "REPENT" and warning of the dire consequences of sin.

As Phryne delves into the case, she enlists the help of her wards Ruth and Jane, who are investigating an embezzler at the Institute, and Tinker, who aids in identifying the sender of the threatening notes. Alongside the stylish and resourceful Phryne, the trio sets out to solve the complex web of mysteries that have entangled them once again.
